(part 1 of this post is under the Post-Abortion Syndrome message board as a reply to regretful090206)

So-called well meaning people did not want me to share the secret of the abortion I had; the abortion that they encouraged.  It was told to me “When you tell, you do know that some will condemn you.”  I know that was said to keep my mouth quiet and their secret hidden.  My response was, ”I cannot control how they respond, that will be between them and God.  All I know is that I have to tell the truth.”  They were silent, dumbfounded.  The courage it takes to share (especially the first time), may I simply say, it does take much courage to share and for that I am proud of each of you who have taken that step.

"Regretful" shared and as so many others tell of the turmoil, how much and deeply they are hurting; allow me to encourage you that it will not always be that way.  As someone who is now “on the other side” of the pain, may you be encouraged as you seek your healing.

It is the enemy who wants us to remain silent and by our silence we remain alone and feeling as if we are the only one who is experiencing pain from abortion.  By our silence everyone perceives that abortion is OK, that it does not hurt.  It is only by our sharing that others will realize that they are not alone in their pain and also hopefully keep others from making the choice of abortion that leads to that pain.

Whether someone has experienced the pain of abortion or not they need to remember that Jesus did NOT throw stones.

John 8:7   NIV

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

They, starting with the oldest, disappear into the woodwork.  And upon all of them having left…

John 8:11   NIV

"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

And by leaving this life of sin, receiving God’s gift of forgiveness offered thru Jesus’ death on the cross and His conquering of death and the grave, we are now declared righteous by God Himself.

  2 Corinthians 5:17-20   NIV

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

The love and forgiveness of Jesus is available to all.  I would encourage you to continue seeking your healing by getting involved in a post abortion recovery group. (There is a lot of information here on the site.)  I also invite you to chat where you can share in a non-judgmental environment.  Freedom from the guilt, shame and pain is awaiting you through Jesus.

He is waiting…

Love and hugs to you,

Lori
