I receive a new letter from the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) on the web about the new bill that was signed on October 3, 2008 by President Bush. It is title is Paul Wellstone-Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. It was attached to the bill of HR 1424 which is; Emergency Economic Stablization Act. This bill has struggled thru Congress for a few years now, Paul Wellstone is deceased. The DBSA hopes that this will open the door for 'Mom's Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support for Postpartum Depression Act' or Mother's Act.

I believe this will open doors for Post Abortion Syndrome. I have read about the Post Abortion Depression and Research Act of 2007. The number of the bill is HR 1457, I do not think it has changed for this year. It has been struggling thru Congress for at least four years now.

I have Bipolar Disorder, I had depression for many years before I received treatment. I sought help with in seven years of my abortion. As I am going into menopause and the mania has gotten worse. My medication is finally working like it should.

I am also an alcoholic. I no longer drink and feel loads better. The alcohol would also cause problems when mixed with the medication.  I attend AA when I am really struggling. I did read this book which helped me to stay sober; Loosening the Grip by Jean Kinney and Gwen Leaton. If I had read that book in my teens I would not have drank.

The Thomas Library of Congress is at our finger tips if you like to know more about the, BILLS ON CAPITOL HILL!

If you would like to know more about Mental Health issues check out this site; Bazelon Center for Mental Health.

Thanks for reading and I will be praying for these bills to become laws in the USA.
